Formosa
Heritage plays a major part in the scenery in Formosa. Northbound visitors look over the beautiful valley from the former site of Formosa Mutual Insurance Company (established 1880), now the site of the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority. Just down the hill is Formosa Springs Brewery, in business since 1869.
Between the hills, the hamlet offers a park for picnicing beside Formosa Creek, and traditional local stone buildings housing former Formosa Inn and Oberle's General Store, built in 1866.
Formosa's north hill is crowned by the stately Church of the Immaculate Conception (seen here). This architectural gem was built between 1875 and 1883, largely by the volunteer labour of parishioners.
