A Marriage Licence is a required official permit that enables the couple to have a Marriage ceremony. This is a prerequisite in obtaining an official Marriage Certificate from the Province. The Municipality of South Bruce issues marriage licences that can be used to marry anywhere in Ontario.
Marriage Licences may be obtained at the Municipality of South Bruce. The Marriage Licence Application may be downloaded and completed from the attached link. The fee is $125. Bring the completed application and your birth certificates for verification. If you have been divorced you must bring in the original or certified copy of the divorce decree. A Marriage Licence can only be issued within 90 days of the wedding date.

Payments may be cash, cheque or debit. We do not accept credit cards.
Approximately three months after the marriage ceremony, you are advised to apply for a marriage certificate. This paperwork is required for anyone wishing to assume the name of their current spouse, apply for pension and a variety of other reasons.
